Beware Predatory Cannabis Businesses in Kentucky

Kentucky NORML is warning Kentuckians to be cautious of businesses in the state that are selling medical cannabis cards or certifications for exorbitant prices.

Louisville, KY - The Kentucky Chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (Kentucky NORML) is warning Kentuckians to be cautious of businesses in the state that are selling medical cannabis cards or certifications for exorbitant prices.

While Kentucky does not currently have a medical cannabis program, a number of businesses, particularly in the Louisville area, are taking advantage of the lack of information and charging upwards of $250-300 for their services. 

"We have received numerous reports of patients paying for medical cards thinking this allows them to access cannabis in Kentucky or another medical cannabis state like Ohio. These cards are useless and it is upsetting to think of patients losing their hard-earned money. These businesses are preying on the vulnerable and chronically ill, offering false hope and taking advantage of their trust. It's unacceptable," said Lauren Morgan Bratcher, Deputy Director of Kentucky NORML.

We strongly advise Kentuckians to trust only credible and reliable sources of information and to be wary of businesses that are exploiting the current confusion surrounding the Governor's Executive Order on medical cannabis and the lack of a medical cannabis program in the state.
