Medical Cannabis Patient Registration Fairs Coming to Four Kentucky Cities This Fall
Events Will Help Patients Access Program and Reduce Evaluation Costs
A 4 part series of Medical Cannabis Patient Registration Fairs will take place across Kentucky in August and September, helping eligible patients connect with certified physicians and complete evaluations required to participate in Kentucky’s new medical cannabis program.
The fairs are designed to reduce the cost and logistical barriers of accessing medical cannabis in Kentucky. Patients will have the opportunity to meet with state licensed medical recommendation providers, complete the necessary evaluations on-site, and receive guidance on the registration process.
Patients attending the fairs can expect a comprehensive "one-stop" experience designed for accessibility and education:
Certified Physician Consultations & On-Site Evaluations: The core service. Patients can meet face-to-face with state-licensed physicians specifically authorized to recommend medical cannabis. They can undergo the required medical evaluation right at the fair, significantly reducing the time and effort needed to complete this crucial step.
Registration Guidance & Application Assistance: Experts will be available to walk patients through the entire state registration process. This includes help understanding the requirements, completing the necessary forms, navigating the online portal (KYMC), and answering specific questions about the application.
Exploration of Educational Booths: Patients can visit various booths offering essential education, such as:
Program Information: Detailed explanations of Kentucky's medical cannabis program rules, regulations, qualifying medical conditions, patient rights, and responsibilities.
Medical Cannabis Basics: Information on different cannabis product types (oils, tinctures, capsules, topicals, etc.), potential benefits and risks, methods of consumption, dosing considerations, and the endocannabinoid system.
Advocacy & Support Groups: Resources and information from patient advocacy organizations offering support, community, and guidance.
Industry Partners (Kentucky Cannabis Industry Association): While sales won't occur until this fall, licensed dispensaries (or businesses preparing to become licensed) may have booths providing information about their future locations, product philosophies, educational resources, and patient services they plan to offer with emphasis on education, not sales or product access at the fair itself. We are proud to work with KCIA on reducing costs to patients at these events.
Caregiver Information: Guidance on the caregiver registration process and role.
Cost-Reduced Evaluations: A key benefit highlighted is that the fairs are specifically structured to reduce the cost of obtaining the mandatory physician evaluation compared to typical clinic visits, making participation in the program more financially accessible.
Access to Experts: Beyond the recommending physicians, patients can ask questions and get clarifications directly from individuals deeply knowledgeable about the program's implementation and regulations.
Resource Materials: Take-home brochures, pamphlets, website links, and contact information for further learning and program updates.
In essence, the fairs provide a unique opportunity for eligible Kentuckians to efficiently complete their medical evaluation, get help with state registration, and gain valuable knowledge about medical cannabis – all in a single location, at a lower cost, with support readily available.
